1. Policy Statement
A.R. Bhatt Educational Institute maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward ragging, harassment, discrimination, or any form of misconduct. The Institute upholds the dignity, rights, and safety of every student, ensuring that all learners experience an atmosphere of mutual respect, equality, and trust.
Every student, irrespective of background, gender, or course of study, is entitled to a learning environment that is free from fear, intimidation, or undue pressure.
2. Definition of Ragging
As per UGC Regulations (2009), “Ragging includes any act by an individual or group that causes physical or psychological harm, discomfort, or humiliation to a student in an educational institution.”
This includes but is not limited to:
- Verbal or physical abuse, teasing, or humiliation.
- Forcing a student to perform acts against their will.
- Restricting, isolating, or discriminating against any student.
- Harassment through social media, messages, or online forums.
Engaging in or abetting ragging is a punishable offence under the law and will result in immediate disciplinary and/or legal action.
3. Preventive Measures
- Anti-Ragging awareness sessions are conducted during orientation programs and the first week of every academic year.
- All students must submit an Anti-Ragging Undertaking (as per UGC format) at the time of admission.
- Posters and notices displaying the Anti-Ragging Policy and Helpline Contacts are placed on the notice board of the campus.
- Faculty mentors and class coordinators maintain close interaction with students to identify and resolve early signs of misconduct.
4. Disciplinary Actions
Any student found guilty of ragging shall face one or more of the following penalties as deemed appropriate by the Institute’s Anti-Ragging Committee:
- Suspension or expulsion from the institution.
- Debarment from examinations or academic privileges.
- Legal proceedings under Section 4 of the UGC Act (2009) and related State or Central laws.
- Reporting to police or judicial authorities for serious offences.
5. Grievance Redressal Mechanism
The Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC) at A.R. Bhatt Educational Institute provides a fair and confidential platform for students, faculty, and staff to express concerns related to academics, administration, or personal welfare.
Functions of the GRC:
- Receive written or online complaints from students and staff.
- Conduct impartial inquiry within a stipulated timeframe.
- Recommend corrective or disciplinary action where necessary.
- Maintain complete confidentiality and transparency during the process.
Students can submit grievances via:
- Direct written application to the Grievance Cell Coordinator.
- Email to the official grievance address.
6. Committee Structure
Each college under A.R. Bhatt Educational Institute maintains an active Anti-Ragging & Grievance Redressal Committee comprising:
- Principal – Chairperson
- Faculty Representative – Member
- Administrative Officer – Member
- Student Representative – Member
- Social Work Faculty – Member Secretary
The Committee meets periodically to review campus discipline and ensure swift resolution of all registered cases.
